Application for Marriage License Requirements
Here is the list of requirements when applying for a marriage license in Makati:
- Certified photocopy of Birth Certificate (bring original copy for verification)
- Residence certificate (community tax certificate)
- Pre Marriage Counselling Certificate (see details below)
- Barangay Certificate for Makati Residents
- Parental Advice (for 21-25 yrs old) or Parental Consent (for 18-21 yrs old)
- ID picture
- Cenomar or Certificate of No Marriage from NSO
Notes:
- the application form must be accomplished in the groom's and bride's own handwritings.
- marriage license is valid for 120 days anywhere in the Philippines
- for the pre-marriage counselling, follow these procedures:
- pay PHP100 at Window B
- Proceed to Makati Social Welfare Division
5th Flr, New Building at 8:00 AM
for the pre-marriage counselling - Proceed to Health Department
7th Flr, New Building at 1PM Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
for the Family Planning Seminar - Return to Civil Registry Office at the 3rd Flr for filing and administration of oath (pay PHP130 at Window B of the MTFD)
Indeed, that's a lot of steps just to secure a license to get married. Fortunately, you may either secure the license from the bride's or the groom's domicile.
It was my groom's father who processed our marriage license requirements for us. We didn't even fill up the forms ourselves! We just provided a photocopy of our birth certificates. The fee, I think, was around PHP 200 only. The processed form must be submitted to your church.
